Under the Surface: Vagal Tone, Nervous System Function and Actionable Biomarkers in Anxiety, Depression and Sleep Disorders
Event Description
Symptoms of anxiety, depression and insomnia are associated with changes in central and autonomic nervous system activity as well as dysfunction of the vagus nerve. Importantly, measurement of these changes can predict the development and severity of symptoms, guide management, and track treatment responses.
This seminar explores the use of clinical assessments, including non-invasive testing and wearable devices, that reflect vagus nerve and nervous system function, to help guide nutritional and lifestyle medicine-based interventions. We also review wider considerations in the nutritional management of anxiety, depression and sleep disorders.
Learning objectives
- Review the role of vagus nerve and nervous system dysfunction in mental health
- Evaluate assessments and tracking of vagal tone, nervous system function, and other actionable biomarkers
- Update on the clinical evidence for nutritional therapy in the management of anxiety, depression and insomnia
- Explore nutrition and lifestyle medicine-based interventions that demonstrably improve vagus nerve function
All attendees will receive
- 2-hours of CPD approved education
- Lecture notes
- Supplementary research papers
- Dinner and drinks
- Free sample products
